On October 5th, Olympic gold medalists Wang Qilin, Li Yang, and Lin Yu-ting made a special appearance at an outdoor fan event for a trendy functional clothing brand. This marked a significant moment as it was the first time they joined forces for a commercial event since achieving a historic back-to-back victory in men’s doubles badminton at the Olympics, with their adorable coordinating outfits attracting plenty of attention from fans.
Fans flocked to see the trio, and their entrance was met with loud cheers. The “Lin-Yang Pair” playfully noted that their matching outfits were intended to evoke a couple’s look, eliciting even more excitement from the audience.
Li Yang, who has transitioned into a role as an associate professor at National Taiwan Sport University after retiring, shared that he is still adjusting to his new teaching responsibilities. “Being a teacher is a huge change for me,” he explained. “It’s not just about improving my language and writing skills; I also have to focus on my personal style. Before, I dressed casually, but now I’m learning how to combine formal and fashionable elements in my outfits.”
Wang Qilin quickly chimed in, revealing that Li Yang’s favorite color is gray, showcasing their strong bond developed over years of teamwork.
Since the Olympics, Wang Qilin, who now partners with Qiu Xiang-tang for international competitions, expressed that his recent goal is to accumulate points to participate in more high-level tournaments, with aspirations to compete at the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games.
Lin Yu-ting, who had previously teamed up with Li Yang under the playful moniker “Potato Chips” at various events, also attended Li Yang’s retirement ceremony. Standing alongside the “Lin-Yang Pair,” she reflected on her own journey during the Tokyo Olympics, sharing, “I was out after just one match, and it took me a while to adjust emotionally. During that time, ‘Brother Yang’ offered me a lot of encouragement. His discipline in training was truly inspirational. I’m thrilled to be part of their journey this time around at the Paris Olympics to chase that gold medal.”
