On October 14, 2023, 58.com released its talent mobility report for the third quarter of 2024, revealing that Beijing leads the nation in recruitment and job-seeking activity.
As traditionally known, the “golden September and silver October” period signifies a bustling employment market. The report indicates a 3.6% increase in the number of job applications submitted across various regions compared to the previous month. The top 15 cities with the highest recruitment demand include Beijing, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Dongguan, Kunming, Shanghai, Suzhou, Chongqing, Tianjin, Wuhan, Changsha, Qingdao, Guangzhou, and Foshan, with Kunming, Suzhou, and Chongqing showing particularly significant growth in demand.
During this year’s Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays, tourism in Yunnan thrived, leading to high visitor numbers in cities like Kunming, Lijiang, and Dali. Many businesses preemptively hired staff, which has energized the local job market. Besides the tourism boom, certain cities are also witnessing increased hiring due to the accelerated transformation and upgrading of their manufacturing industries. For instance, Suzhou, a major economic hub, exhibits strong industrial clusters in sectors like electronics, equipment manufacturing, biomedicine, and textiles, while Chongqing is focusing on building its modern manufacturing cluster system under the “33618” initiative, fostering new productivity.
As for talent migration trends, first-tier cities remain highly attractive. However, with various regions strategically enhancing their talent attraction and development efforts, new first-tier and second-tier cities are also demonstrating greater appeal. The data shows that in the third quarter, both recruitment and job-seeking demands in Beijing were robust, keeping it as a preferred job destination for many. Chengdu and Chongqing are also gaining momentum, thanks to diverse job opportunities and a desirable lifestyle, placing them among the top five cities for job application submissions. Additionally, Dongguan, Qingdao, Urumqi, and Nanning saw their application rates rise by over 10%.
In terms of salaries, the average monthly recruitment salary in the top 15 cities with high demand is 8,466 yuan. Shanghai tops the list with an average monthly salary of 11,033 yuan. Suzhou, noted for its vibrant recruitment activity, experienced the highest salary growth at 8.4% compared to the previous quarter, while Tianjin, Hangzhou, and Foshan also saw slight salary increases.
