On October 15, a landmark short-haul passenger flight route connecting Wuhan to Shiyan and Jingzhou was officially launched from HanNan Airport in Wuhan Economic Development Zone. This marks the first general aviation short-haul passenger service in Hubei Province.
These newly established routes aim to enhance economic and cultural exchanges between Wuhan and cities like Shiyan and Jingzhou, providing a more convenient and efficient travel option for business trips and emergency rescue operations. Additionally, this initiative is expected to promote the prosperity of Hubei’s general aviation sector and the low-altitude economy, facilitating regional coordinated development.
Zhou Fei, General Manager of Wuhan Yangtze Airport Company, shared details about the new routes, stating, “We are operating the Kodiak 100 aircraft for these flights. The route from HanNan to Shiyan will have two flights weekly, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while the HanNan to Jingzhou route will operate once a week on Wednesdays. Apart from these scheduled services, passengers can also opt for customized charter solutions.”
He added, “Not only does this significantly reduce travel time between Wuhan, Shiyan, and Jingzhou, but it also allows passengers to enjoy the beautiful landscapes along the way and experience the thrill of low-altitude flight.” Looking ahead, there are plans to introduce tourism routes connecting Shiyan to Enshi and Enshi to Yichang, further expanding travel options for the public.
On the same day, the Low Altitude Economy Industrial Park at Wuhan Economic Development Zone was inaugurated. Chen Wenming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Work Committee and Director of the General Aviation and Satellite Industry Park Management Office, explained that the Low Altitude Economy Industrial Park will leverage the resources of the General Aviation and Satellite Industry Park and HanNan Airport. The park aims to create a full industrial chain cluster encompassing the research, manufacturing, testing, and maintenance of aviation vehicles, while also expanding applications in areas like emergency rescue, cultural tourism, science popularization, aviation sports, short-distance transportation, logistics, and urban management.
