On the afternoon of October 23, the first batch of citrus fruits from northern Fujian for 2024 passed inspection and quarantine at the Nanjing Customs. They embarked on a cold-chain transport journey from Shunchang County in Nanping City, traveling over 5,000 kilometers via the Manzhouli port to reach Russia.
During a launch ceremony for the Shunchang citrus exports, Zhang Wangsheng, General Manager of Fujian Yunyuan Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., shared, “We have obtained the import permit for citrus into Russia, which facilitates direct communication with our clients there. This batch was packaged at the citrus trading center in Shunchang and transported overland to the Manzhouli market, entering Russia directly through the Manzhouli customs.”
Recently, there has been a surge in citrus orders heading from Nanping to Russia. This week alone, Shunchang County has reported 39 export orders valued at over 1.6 million yuan. To ensure a smooth export process, customs departments have opened a green channel specifically for citrus products.
Peng Hongwei, head of the second inspection section of the Nanping Customs stationed in Shaowu, explained, “Nanping Customs has been actively promoting policies to help businesses navigate the plant quarantine regulations of countries like Russia. We are leveraging the ‘Specialized Customs Officers’ program to enhance orchard management practices and boost high-quality development.”
Shunchang County is recognized as a major citrus export base in China, with an annual production of nearly 120,000 tons, over a third of which is exported. In addition to Russia, exports also reach Southeast Asia and Africa. In recent years, Shunchang has focused on building the “Shunchang Citrus” brand, deepening its presence in the export market, and implementing a green, high-yield initiative for citrus production. Thanks to their exceptional and consistent quality, Shunchang’s citrus fruits have attracted a significant number of overseas customers, leading to impressive annual sales growth.
