On October 9, Nanyue Qingfeng News reported that the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision has launched an investigation into Li Donghua, the former deputy secretary of the Dongguan City Commission for Discipline Inspection and former deputy director of the Supervisory Commission. This investigation was initiated following approval from the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee.
The findings of the investigation indicate that Li Donghua has strayed from his original mission and lost sight of his ideals and beliefs. His actions showed a blatant disregard for the spirit of the central government’s eight regulations. He was found to have accepted gifts and money in violation of established rules and improperly participated in various banquets. Additionally, he crossed significant ethical boundaries by engaging in profit-making activities against regulations, violating work discipline, leaking confidential inspection information, and using his position to enrich himself personally.
Li’s use of his official role to benefit others in contract bidding and case handling was particularly troubling, as was his illegal acceptance of substantial amounts of money and property. His conduct represents serious violations of the Party’s integrity and work discipline, resulting in significant misconduct and suspected bribery. Notably, this behavior continued even after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party, highlighting its severity and negative impact.
In response to these findings, the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection has deemed that Li Donghua should face serious repercussions. Following the applicable regulations, including the Disciplinary Regulations of the Communist Party of China and the Supervision Law of the People’s Republic of China, it has been decided to expel him from the Party and dismiss him from his public office. He will also lose his status as a delegate to the 15th Party Congress in Dongguan, be required to forfeit his illegal gains, and his suspected criminal activities will be referred to prosecutorial authorities for legal review and prosecution, along with any relevant property involved.
