Du Zi, former deputy secretary and deputy director of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was expelled from the party

On October 7, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission announced that, with the approval of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, an investigation has been launched into Du Zi, the former deputy secretary of the party group and vice chairman of the People’s Congress of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The investigation has uncovered serious issues regarding Du Zi’s conduct. He has strayed from his ideals and original mission, showing resistance to organizational oversight. His actions included improper selections and appointments of officials, as well as accepting bribes. Moreover, he engaged in corrupt practices that compromised ethical family standards and had a detrimental impact on the organization. His excessive greed precipitated numerous exchanges of power for money, as he exploited his position for personal gain in areas like project contracting, coal resource allocation, and personnel adjustments, while reportedly accepting significant illicit financial benefits.

Du Zi’s actions constitute serious violations of the Party’s political, organizational, integrity, and lifestyle standards, and amount to significant misconduct in office along with potential bribery offenses. Given the severity of his actions and their harmful repercussions, he faces strict disciplinary action. After deliberations among the Standing Committee of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and with the approval from the Central Committee, a decision has been made to expel Du Zi from the Party, revoke his benefits, confiscate his illicit assets, and refer his suspected criminal activities to the judiciary for legal review and prosecution, including the transfer of related assets.
