On October 25, the American Chinese Democratic Justice Alliance announced that it will host a forum titled “Looking at Current Events with a Focus on Taiwan” on November 3. The event will take place at the New York Chinese Community Service Center in Flushing, Queens, from 2 PM to 4 PM. It will feature seasoned media personality Wei Bizhou and political analyst Lin Yingjun, who will engage with community members in an in-depth discussion.
The organizers aim to explore the impact of the current international situation on Taiwan and its future development direction. The forum will cover various topics, including Taiwan’s international status, cross-strait relations, and Taiwan’s role in global politics and economics. The alliance hopes to enhance community members’ understanding and concern for Taiwanese affairs and encourage active participation in related discussions.
Chou Yuemei, Executive Director of the Alliance, emphasized that with the ongoing war in Ukraine lasting over two years and the escalating conflicts in Gaza, as well as the persistent instability in the Middle East, global peace seems increasingly elusive. The recent provocations between North and South Korea have further heightened tensions in East Asia. She noted that, in this context of a looming U.S. presidential election, voters face critical choices about electing a leader who can guide the country toward prosperity while actively promoting world peace. Additionally, maintaining stability in the Taiwan Strait and ensuring Taiwan’s security is a major concern for overseas Taiwanese communities.
Alliance advisor Li Chunxi also highlighted that the experienced media commentators at the forum will provide insightful analysis on how the current international political climate affects stability in Asia and worldwide. The event is located at 133-32 41st Rd, Flushing, NY 11355.
