Mail-in ballots for the presidential election are being mailed out and will arrive in the mailboxes of Bay Area voters this week

On October 16, the Bay Area Election Officials Alliance announced that mail-in ballots for the upcoming 2024 presidential election have started being sent out and will soon arrive in voters’ mailboxes. They are urging residents to vote early to ensure their participation in this important election.

All eligible voters will receive their ballots for the presidential election scheduled on November 5, 2024. To facilitate participation, various convenient voting methods have been established. Voters can mail their completed ballots back in prepaid envelopes or drop them off in official ballot drop boxes. In-person voting will be available from October 7 to November 5 at designated voting centers. Additionally, voters who have not registered in advance can complete their registration and cast their votes on Election Day itself.

Kristin B. Connelly, the voter registrar for Contra Costa County, emphasized, “Bay Area voters have numerous options when it comes to casting their ballots. Our election officials have been preparing for this election for months and are ready to ensure voters can use their preferred method to vote.”

Voters can track their mail-in ballots and receive notifications when their ballots are mailed, received, and processed by the county election office through the “Where’s My Ballot” service (https://wheresmyballot.sos.ca.gov), allowing them to stay informed about their ballot’s journey.

Election officials noted that each mail-in ballot has a unique identification code that is used for signature verification, ensuring that ballots are handled securely. The ballot processing steps involve categorizing received ballots, verifying signatures, alerting voters if a signature cannot be verified, and further reviewing any contested ballots, with verified ballots sent to counting centers.

Voters can also use the BallotTrax service to track the status of their mail-in ballots in real-time, ensuring their votes are accounted for. Additionally, they can reach out to local election officials for comprehensive nonpartisan election information to facilitate their participation.
