On October 20, a representative from the Ministry of Justice announced via their official WeChat account that the subjective part of the 2024 National Unified Legal Profession Qualification Examination was successfully conducted. Across the country, including 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau, a total of 314 testing areas, 472 test sites, and over 5,400 test rooms were established.
The 2024 examination utilized a computer-based format, though for those candidates facing challenges with computer use, a paper-and-pencil option was made available, allowing candidates to choose testing sites that are conveniently located. Dedicated testing sites were set up for candidates from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, with a special input method introduced in Xiamen for those from Taiwan, aimed at providing seamless service to all candidates from these regions. Furthermore, candidates were permitted to use Chinese as well as five ethnic minority languages, including Mongolian, Tibetan, Uyghur, Kazakh, and Korean, with encouragement for candidates from ethnic minority areas to utilize Chinese exam papers, all under a consistent passing score policy.
During the exam, the Ministry of Justice reinforced the unified command and scheduling of nationwide testing efforts. They effectively activated an emergency response mechanism to address any abnormal situations, ensuring a smooth examination process. Various departments, including Education, Industry and Information Technology, Public Security, and Energy, provided solid support in securing resources, power supply, and network security, while also combating exam misconduct. Local justice administrative agencies, under the strong guidance of local party committees and governments, complied with the Ministry’s directives and coordinated with relevant departments to enhance services in transportation, accommodation, food, and medical support. Special attention was given to candidates with visual impairments, health issues, and pregnant women, offering them tailored assistance. Multiple strategies were employed to promote integrity among candidates and uphold strict exam conduct, creating a fair, safe, and orderly examination environment.
According to the schedule, the results for the subjective exam are set to be released on November 30. The Ministry of Justice will make a separate announcement regarding the determination of the passing score as well as details on how candidates who pass can apply for their legal profession qualifications.
