Kim Dui-seok allocated 35,000 yuan to the community patrol team to help improve public security in Flushing.

State Assemblyman Ron Kim recently announced a series of new public safety measures designed to combat the rise in robbery and theft incidents in Flushing. On October 16, he allocated $35,000 to support the New York Public Safety Patrol (NYPSP) in enhancing patrol operations and expanding patrol routes across the area. Additionally, Kim urged local small businesses to take advantage of the Commercial Security Tax Credit Program to invest in equipment that helps prevent crime.

In expressing his support, Kim noted that the NYPSP has long worked to maintain safety in downtown Flushing. He emphasized his gratitude for their dedicated efforts and hopes that the funding will alleviate some of the burdens on the patrol team as they work to ensure community safety.

Li Qi-Ji, the Vice President of the patrol, stated that they will responsibly utilize the new funding to increase patrol frequency and coverage. The patrol also plans to continue offering self-defense courses aimed at better protecting the local small businesses and the general public.

Kim also reminded community small businesses that the application deadline for the tax credit program is October 31 (Thursday), urging them to make the most of this opportunity. The program offers eligible businesses up to $6,000 in tax credits for acquiring safety equipment.

According to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, the tax credit program assists small businesses in investing in safety measures. Eligible expenses include hiring state-certified security guards, purchasing surveillance cameras, alarm systems, lighting, various theft prevention locks, and infrared devices to detect counterfeit bills.

To qualify, applicants must be retailers with no outstanding tax liabilities. Businesses with 25 or fewer employees can apply for a credit of $3,000, while those with 50 or fewer employees are eligible for a $6,000 credit.
